Heather Balgaard is an estate planning and probate attorney who counsels clients on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and trust litigation matters. In her estate planning practice, Heather designs comprehensive plans to ensure families preserve their hard-earned assets. Heather takes time to understand her clients’ goals and specific needs and offers unique solutions and a tailored approach to ensure that each client’s estate plan fits their individual needs.

Heather offers a gentle and take-charge approach when assisting families in administering the estate after the loss of a loved one. She understands that the probate process or administering a trust after a loss can be an overwhelming and daunting task, so she strives to take the burden off her clients and navigates them each step of the way. Heather’s goal is to make the transition of assets as seamless and quick as possible. Heather has handled complex probates that include business interests, commercial real estate, leases, buy-sell agreements, and foreign beneficiaries.

Heather has experience litigating contested matters and acts as a fierce advocate for her clients when disputes arise.

While a student at Mitchell Hamline, Heather served as the Community Service chair of the Hamline Women’s Legal Caucus during her second and third years of law school. She continues to be community minded and volunteers as a mentor and represents low-income clients going through the probate process.
